Beware of the sun’s rays! As soon as they appear, it is hard not to try and make the most of them. But protection and prevention is still the best solution when it comes to sunburn. However, the sun’s rays could still be strong enough to burn you, at which point we recommend that you treat sunburn with the natural products you have in your fridge, your presses, your garden, or even in your bathroom.

In your fridge

You may not yet know it, but your fridge is choc full of natural products that are highly effective for treating sunburn. Follow this guide!

1. Cucumber

Cucumber has calming and soothing properties. If we can use it to give a boost to tired eyes, we can also rely on it to soothe sunburn. Cut it into slices, and place it on the sunburned area to cool it down.

2. Melon

Melon – and particularly its seeds – can soothe burns. Blend the flesh and the seeds in a mixer, and apply the paste to the area of the burn. Leave it to work for around fifteen minutes.

The flesh of a melon contains vitamin A, which will reduce inflammation. The seeds, which are rich in fatty acids, will soften your skin.

3. Lemon

Freshly squeezed lemon juice will soothe red skin.

4. Tomatoes

Tomatoes are very useful for treating sunburn, as like melons, they contain vitamin A.

Our advice: cut a few slices and apply them to any areas of skin made red by UV rays.

5. Natural yoghurt

To treat superficial burns, yoghurt has long been used as an old wives remedy, for its refreshing properties. Leave it to work on the skin for 15 to 20 minutes.

In your presses

Open your presses wide: several everyday foodstuffs can be used to treat sunburn.

6. Tea

The skin on the face is very fine and very fragile. Soak a teabag in cold water, gently squeeze it out and put it on your eyelids for a few minutes. The tannins in the tea will help reduce puffiness and swelling.

You can also make a tea as if you were going to drink it, leave it to cool and apply it to your burns using sterile compresses.

7. Mint

Thanks to its soothing and aromatic properties, mint can reduce the pain of summer burns.

You can either prepare it as a tea, or mix some mint essential oil with hot water. Leave it to cool and apply it to the area with a compress or a clean cloth.
