We can distinguish between several types of fatigue: “natural” fatigue following effort, fatigue due to illness (flu, glandular fever, cancer, anemia, diabetes, thyroid problems, etc.), psychological fatigue (depression/anxiety, etc.), or lifestyle related fatigue (stress, pregnancy, etc.). Fortunately, many essential oils can help you effectively and naturally fight fatigue. 

Combat fatigue with essential oils

Essential oils provide a concentrate of the active ingredients and essential properties in plants, flowers and fruit. They are known to be very effective for naturally fighting fatigue, whether it’s physical fatigue, due to low morale, or linked to an illness or a particular situation.

Temporary fatigue

Especially in the case of convalescence following an accident or an operation, you can boost your organism with black spruce essential oil or frankincense essential oil, either:

  • by inhaling it: add a drop of each oil to a clean tissue and inhale for a few seconds, 3 to 5 times a day.
  • and/or as a massage: apply a drop of each oil above the kidneys or along the spinal column, and a massage it in for 20 minutes, to get rid of fatigue.

Stress and overload

Diffused in a room or as a massage, petigrain (bigarade) essential oil, marjoram essential oil or sweet orange essential oil are very effective for calming the nervous system and reducing stress. As a massage, apply a drop of each oil to the solar plexus, mixing them with a few drops of vegetable oil (olive oil, coconut oil, apricot oil, sweet almond oil, argan oil, etc.).

Special pregnancy massage

The third trimester is often very tiring for mums-to-be, and fatigue is exacerbated by the ever increasing weight of the baby. In the palm of your hand, mix 2 drops of black spruce essential oil with 4 drops of coconut oil or organic sweet almond oil, and massage it into the hollow of the kidneys.

Recipe for an anti-anxiety or anti-depression roll-on

Make a roll on from mandarin essential oil, maniguette fine essential oil and butterfly ginger essential oil. 

Here are the ingredients you need to make the Aroma Zone recipe:

  • 15 ml of a neutral base (organic perfume base)
  • 50 drops of mandarin essential oil
  • 20 drops of butterfly ginger essential oil
  • 20 drops of maniguette fine essential oil

Transfer the ingredients directly into a clean, dry and sterilised roll-on container. Close it and shake it to mix the ingredients.

Apply the roll on to your wrists and inhale its scent any time you need a boost.

Store the roll-on away from heat sources, and keep it for a maximum of 6 months.
