Replenishing face masks: 6 natural fruit recipes for soft and nourished skin

Everyone knows that fruit is beneficial for our health however they also have positive effects on our skin due to the fact they are rich in vitamins, antioxidants and other essential nutrients.  Here are six recipes for fruit face masks which will replenish your skin and leave it feeling soft and nourished.  Try and choose organic ingredients so as to avoid chemical products getting in contact with your skin. 

1) Pear and lemon mask good for oily skin

Lemon juice is great at getting rid of excess sebum which causes black heads and acne.  However if lemon juice is applied on its own it has a tendency to aggravate the skin. Pear is softer and has restorative properties which will deeply cleanse the skin and reduce sebum glands from producing.

Cut the pear in two and put it into a mixer.  Add the lemon juice and mix together until you have a paste.  Apply this mixture onto a clean face and leave to react for 15 minutes.  Rinse with cold water.

Good to know:  Apply this mask at night before going to bed as it is important to avoid using lemon on the skin before being in contact with the sun.  Otherwise it can cause freckles to appear.

2) Apple and witch hazel face mask good for sensitive skin

Apples are very rich in minerals, vitamins and antioxidants while witch hazel stimulates blood circulation and improves the skin’s appearance.  This mixture is particularly good for people with sensitive skin.

Using a juicer, extract the juice of 1 organic apple or buy 100% natural, organic apple juice.  In a bowl mix the apple juice with 2 tablespoons of powdered witch hazel (20 g).  Using cotton wool apply this mixture to you skin leaving it to soak into your face for 20 minutes.  Afterwards, rinse using warm water.

3) 100% natural face mask using papaya and mango

Papayas and mangoes are great at getting rid of acne or skin problems thanks to the many nutrients and vitamins they possess.

In a bowl, mix 1 tablespoon of papaya flesh (10 g), 1 tablespoon of mango flesh (10 g) and 1 tablespoon of honey (25 g).  Apply this mixture onto your face and leave for 20 minutes before rinsing with fresh water.  Repeat this skin care process once per week.

4) Orange and honey mask for softer skin

Orange and honey have restorative and effective properties which can leave all skin types looking radiant. In fact honey has more than 10 medicinal properties

Add 3 tablespoons of honey (75 g) and the juice of 1 orange into a pan.  Heat up the mixture on a medium heat while mixing well.  When the mixture becomes a smooth paste, pour it into a bowl and leave to cool for a few minutes. Apply the mixture to a clean face while of course avoiding the contours of your eyes.

Leave for 20 minutes and then rinse with warm water.  Avoid exposing your skin to the sun after applying a citrus mask. 

5) Banana and honey mask

Bananas are naturally effective at combating problems with dry skin.  In fact this fruit has more than 15 health and beauty benefits! 

Add 1 ripe banana, 1 tablespoon of honey and 1 tablespoon of natural yoghurt into your blender.  Mix until you have a smooth paste.  Apply the mixture onto your skin and leave for 15 minutes before rinsing with cold or warm water.

6) Banana and oat exfoliating face mask

Oats will help exfoliate your skin leaving your face feeling softer and removing all the impurities.

Squish half a ripe banana into a bowl and add 1 tablespoon of oats (around 10 g).  Mix together until you have a paste that you can apply onto your face with circular, massaging movements. Leave for 10 minutes before rinsing with warm water.  Repeat this beauty care procedure two times per week.

Preparation advice

  • Wash fruit before using them to make your masks.
  • Clean your face with warm water before applying your face mask so as to open your pores.
  • After applying your face mask, rinse your face with cold or warm water.
  • Choose organic fruit so as to avoid putting chemical products (pesticides and such like) in contact with your skin.
