It is never comfortable to be in close proximity to someone who has bad breath and it isn’t nice when it happens to you. Bad breath has many possible causes (questionable oral hygiene, phobia of the dentist as a result of a childhood trauma, diet, dry mouth …). And whether it’s a matter of a few hours or all day, don’t worry! You can find natural solutions to get on top of it. For those who are not aware or are not sure if they have bad breath, you can try out our breath test and follow these tips, which will help you maintain good oral hygiene.

1) Find out if you have bad breath

For this, you simply need a spoon. Gently scrape the back of the tongue and smell what is on the spoon. Is the smell unpleasant? Bad luck, you have bad breath. Nothing to report? In that case, you are good.

If you don’t have a spoon suck your thumb for a few minutes, then leave it to dry. Smell your thumb once it is dry.

2) Don’t tempt fate

Often, odours come from your diet. Avoid high-risk foods like ginger, garlic, onions, fish, cheese or alcohol (especially whisky). Foods containing sulfides are very risky if you want to reduce bad breath.

And of course, you need impeccable oral hygiene: brush your teeth at least twice a day, use dental floss and change your toothbrush every three months

3) Citrus fruits

Drink lemon water throughout the day so as to reduce the risk of questionable breath. Drinking a lot helps to keep the mouth moist, and as saliva helps to fight bad odours, you must avoid dry mouth. You can also consume fruits rich in vitamin C after a meal or throughout the day to solve the problem.

4) Gargle

Gargle water mixed with a few spoons of baking soda on a daily basis.

5) A top quality mouthwash

Add fresh parsley and a few cloves to boiling water and let it infuse. Once cooled, use the mixture to rinse your mouth and rid it of bad odors.

6) Parsley

You can also chew fresh parsley to refresh your breath

7) Green or black tea

These teas will freshen your breath no end!
