A stye on your eye is an abscess or boil caused by a bacterial infection, called staphylococcus, around the eyelid. A stye tends to cause the eyelid to become red and painful, especially if it is swollen, meaning there is an infection. Here are a few natural remedies to make it disappear.

1. Treat a stye with salt water

Heat a bowlful of water in a pot and add 1 teaspoon of salt. Mix it and wait for the water to become hot. Pour a little on to a sterile compress, which you apply to the stye for 10 to 15 minutes, 2 to 3 times a day. You can simply reheat the water to re-use it.

2. Treat a stye naturally with chamomile

Boil some water to make a chamomile infusion and pour some onto a sterile gauze compress. Apply this to the eyelids several times a day to clean them. Keep the infusion in the fridge.

3. Treat a stye with thyme

Thyme has antiviral, antimicrobian and antiseptic properties which will help you rapidly and naturally treat a stye.

Chop some thyme and put it on a compress that you have soaked in hot water, preferably before bringing it to the boil. Apply this compress to the stye for 1 hour, twice a day. After repeating this treatment several times, you should notice an improvement.

4. Treat a stye with green clay

Green clay is an extremely effective natural remedy for treating all types of skin problems, and it is effective for making a stye disappear, in a fast and natural way.

Close the infected eye and apply a pea-sized amount of green clay directly to the stye. Keep your eye well closed while you leave it to work.

5. Treat a stye with homeopathy

From the moment you notice symptoms, you can take 3 granules of Pulsatilla 9 CH three times a day for ten days.

You can also apply calendula ointment to a stye twice a day.

If your stye does not disappear with one of these natural remedies, don’t hesitate to consult your doctor.
