As we age, our cheeks can start to lose their firmness. This is completely natural, even if we don’t like it. Our genes, weight fluctuations and the quality of our diet are factors in the degree of sagging of the cheeks. So how can you fight against the effects of ageing, in a simple and natural way? 

1) Try these 3 facial exercises

Just as there are exercises to firm up the tummy or the bum, there are also exercises to improve the appearance of your cheeks. The cheeks contain muscles, and the skin can be firmed up. Repeat these exercises daily for best results.

Exercice 1: Stand in front of a mirror and smile in an exaggerated fashion, holding the position for over 10 seconds. Relax the muscles, and repeat the exercise 5 times.

Exercice 2: Puff your cheeks up with air and hold it for 10 seconds. Stop and repeat 5 times.

Exercice 3: With your hands, massage above the apples of your cheeks in circular movements, moving towards the centre of your cheeks. Continue for 2 minutes, and repeat twice a day.

2) Hydrate your skin

The better hydrated your skin is, the less your cheeks will sag. Be careful to choose a moisturiser suited to your skin type, and avoid products containing numerous chemical compounds that could be dangerous for your health.

3) Recipe for an avocado and honey face mask

Avocado has firming and hydrating properties which will strengthen and moisturise your skin, in order to prevent wrinkles.

Extract the flesh of a half an avocado and put in in a bowl, to which you add two spoons of honey. Mix it and apply the cream to your face, leaving it to work for 15 minutes. Rinse afterwards with lukewarm water. 

4) Monitor your diet

As a result of your diet, you may be retaining water, which could make your cheeks appear more puffy or swollen. Frequent fluctuations in weight also affect the skin, which in the long term can make it lose its elasticity.

Make a juice from grapefruit, oranges or strawberries, which are great for purifying the body.

Reduce your consumption of sugary and industrially produced food, and go instead for fruit, vegetables and organic produce.

Also remember to hydrate regularly, in order to purify the body from the toxins that build up.
