Fungal infections can appear on any part of the body, but they mainly develop in the toenails, under the armpits, on the scalp or around the genitals (in which case it is best to consult a gynaecologist who will advise as to treatment). If you are patient enough (and willing to give it at least a week), one of these natural remedies could eliminate your fungal infection just as well as a chemical treatment, but without the side effects!
Tea tree oil
Tea tree essential oil, or Maleleuca alternifolia, is taken from the leaves of this Australian plant, and is mainly used for treating skin problems. It is known for its antiseptic, antiviral and fungicidal natural properties.
Like all essential oils, use tea tree oil with care because it could cause irritation on the mucous membranes (the genital areas, the mouth, eyes, etc.).
Apply it directly to the affected area if the area is small, but if the area is large, mix it with coconut oil, which also has fungicidal properties.
Garlic has become very well known for its numerous properties and multiple health benefits.
According to scientific studies, garlic prevents cardiovascular illnesses, improves circulation, boosts immunity and purifies the body.
In the case of a fungal infection, apply a peeled clove of garlic directly to the affected area. Thanks to its high levels of allicin, all traces of the fungus will disappear. If the affected area is small, you can also attach a clove of garlic to the area with cling film. Change the bandage when you notice that the garlic is no longer emitting an odour.
For large areas, crush five cloves of garlic in a bowl and mix it with some good quality oil, leaving it to steep for one week. Strain the mixture and apply it to the area twice a day.
Apple cider vinegar
Your apple cider vinegar should be unpasteurised, so that its ingredients are active. With many properties and benefits, apple cider vinegar has multiple uses. You can even use it to make your own home made shampoo.
Thanks to its anti-fungal properties, it can eliminate fungal infections in one or two weeks, and almost all types of skin problems. Its acidic pH balances the skin’s natural pH.
Apply apple cider vinegar to the affected area with a little cotton wool and leave it to air dry.
Ginger is a root vegetable that comes from the Orient, which is known for its positive effects on the health. You can eat it raw after having peeled it, or apply it directly to the skin.
Thanks to its anti-inflammatory properties, it improves blood circulation and heats up the body.
Treat fungal infections with baking soda
In a basin, mix hot water and baking soda: 2 dessertspoons of baking soda for 2 litres of water.
Soak your feet in this mixture for at least a quarter of an hour, and dry your feet well. Next apply the following mask.
Baking soda foot mask
Prepare a paste with baking soda: 2 to 3 spoons of baking soda mixed with 1 teaspoon of hot water.
Apply the paste to your feet or the area with the fungus. Leave it to work for 30 minutes and rinse and dry the area.
Complete this treatment for one week and you should start to see results.
