Have you ever wondered about spicing up your sex life, either for solitary or accompanied fun, with a sex toy? According to one study, around 50% of people have at least one in their cupboards. And one in four couples regularly use sex toys… If you aren’t (yet) one of their number, here are 10 tips for how to make the best choice…. and to be sure of having fun!
Some vibrators will be more suitable for you than others, depending on your desires, whether you use them alone or with your partner. Our first recommendation: have fun with it!
1. Buy a product from a known and recognised brand
There is an enormous market for sex toys, with a huge number of brands available. However, certain brands stand out for the quality of their products. Fun Factory, Lelo, Dorcel and others are trusted brands. Avoid buying sex toys on the internet. Certainly, they are cheaper to buy, but their life span is shorter. Furthermore, the majority of them come from China and contain toxic chemical products.
2. Avoid phthalates
In terms of chemical and carcinogenic products, phthalates (which are used in food agriculture and cosmetics) have recently been under investigation and under suspicion. Inform yourself to find out more. There are no health regulations restricting the market, but we have one piece of advice: if the toy smells like petrol, it is best avoided!
4. Try it out… on your hand
In a shop, the best thing is to ask to try out the sex toy… on your hand. As well as checking that it is a good quality product, you will be able to make sure that you like the look of it, the material and the noise it makes.
5. Avoid latex
If you are choosing your sex toy in a shop, go for silicone instead of latex. Latex can cause irritation, it is difficult to wash, it retains germs and it doesn’t suit people with allergies.
