Psoriasis is a skin problem caused by inflammation of the skin. It can appear anywhere on the body, but it is often seen around the elbows, the knees, the scalp, the face or the soles of the feet. Here are some natural remedies to treat it.

Monitor your diet

As well as genetic factors, the weather or stress, food intolerances can go unnoticed and can cause psoriasis. The most common food intolerances are linked to gluten and lactose. Pay attention to changes in your body as you gradually change your diet.

Psoriasis causes accelerated regeneration of skin cells, and therefore you need to purify the body with good natural foods. Consume juices and purifying smoothies every day to improve the quality of your skin.

Clay baths

With a wooden spoon, mix natural yoghurt and green clay, and apply this mix to the affected areas. Leave it to work for 20 to 30 minutes, moistening it with yoghurt rather than water so as not to dry out your skin. Rinse with clear water.

Repeat this treatment once a week, or even every second day if symptoms are acute.

Licorice baths and infusions

Licorice contains cortisone and a natural anti-inflammatory, and it is in fact an excellent remedy for all types of inflammation, especially psoriasis.

Bathe in a bath infused with licorice, or drink licorice infusions regularly to calm the inflammation of your skin.

Avoid consuming licorice if you have high blood pressure, without first consulting your doctor.

Carrot mask

Prepare a mask or poultice made from grated carrot and apply it directly to the skin, leaving it to work for 20 minutes.

Rich in beta carotene, carrot will improve your skin’s health and will provide your skin with the necessary nutrients for healthy regeneration.

You can alternate carrot masks with clay baths.

Exposure to sunlight and sea water

Sun and sea water have beneficial effects on the skin. Expose your skin briefly to the sun every day, outside of the hours of maximum radiation. Bathe in sea water as much as you like, because the water hydrates your skin and makes it softer.

You can also buy or get yourself some sea water, to be applied directly to the skin in a spray.
