Even when we are in a good routine and lead a healthy lifestyle, we all suffer from fatigue from time to time. There are days when we simply want to stay in bed, feeling like we have no energy. Returning to work after the holidays can be tough at the best of times, and it can be hard to face into working long days again. Here are a few remedies to help address the problem and give you a boost!

1) Eggnog

This winter drink is a traditional recipe for restoring energy levels, especially if fatigue is only temporary. One glass per day is enough to have you back to yourself again.

Recipes vary, but ours goes as follows: mix an egg yolk with 4 teaspoons of cane sugar or honey. Add a teaspoon of rum if you wish and mix until the mixture whitens. Heat 100 mls of milk in a pot and pour all the ingredients into a cup, in which you mix them well together. Season with a pinch of cinnamon and drink it.

If you need a pick-me-up, we would advise adding 2 teaspoons of cider vinegar and 1 teaspoon of honey to a large glass of water.

3) Oat drink

Oats can give you great energy. Reap their benefits with ease with a drink made with 1 dessertspoon of oat flakes, which you bring to the boil in 250 mls of water. Strain and leave to cool, before drinking.

4) Carrot juice

If your days are long, you’ll be delighted to learn that carrot juice gives you the energy you need to keep going. You simply need to drink one glass in the morning. If have the time to make your own juice in the morning, try blending a peeled orange with two organic carrots (with their skin still on) in a juicer. An added pinch of cinnamon powder will appeal to your taste buds.

5) Onion drink

Slice an onion into strips and add a half litre of water, and cook for 15 minutes. Strain it and drink it once a day, until fatigue is but a distant memory.
