Arthritis, also called osteoarthritis, is a disease caused by the degeneration of the cartilage and joints, leading to joint pains. It primarily affects people over 50 years of age, but it can appear earlier, especially in the knees, the hips, the spine or the fingers.
Nettles: effective for arthritis
Nettles promote cartilage reconstruction and they have an anti-inflammatory effect, ideal for treating arthritis.
Bring a litre of water to the boil and take it off the heat. Take around ten fresh nettle leaves and allow them to infuse in the water for 10 minutes. Drink 1 to 3 cups of this infusion every day.
Ginger
Ginger is a spice with powerful anti-inflammatory effects which can prevent cartilage damage.
Mix 1/3 of a spoon of powdered ginger in a glass of water or add it to your meals every day. You can also eat small slices of ginger.
Turmeric
Turmeric is also an anti-inflammatory that is well known to have numerous health benefits. Add 3 to 4 pinches of turmeric powder to your meals every day.
Cider vinegar
Mix a teaspoon of cider vinegar in a glass of cold water and drink this beverage every morning. It takes a few weeks before you will start to see noticeable results. It needs to be taken regularly in order to treat arthritis.
Lemon
Lemon is an effective natural remedy for arthritis. Drink lemon juice diluted in water every morning.
You can also massage olive oil mixed with lemon to the affected areas.
